Meet Patty
For 12 years, Patty Penland has been a relentless force in cat rescue. Based in Delaware, she feeds and monitors four cat colonies every night and supports a fifth site at the Port of Wilmington, where 25+ TNRed cats rely on her for food and care. Working closely with Forgotten Cats, Patty manages trapping, daily feeding, and monitoring for injuries or illness—everything that helps keep these cats safe and stable.
Each colony has its own personality and challenges:
Colony 1 includes a mix of older cats and a few semi-socialized kittens born last year, some of which Patty is working to foster or adopt out.
Colony 2 is a highly stable, long-term site with minimal turnover—these cats are savvy survivors who know her car by sound.
Colony 3 is located in a semi-industrial area with a high risk of injury from debris, vehicles, and wildlife.
Colony 4 was formed by several abandoned pet cats that Patty TNRed and continues to monitor closely for health needs.
The Port of Wilmington Colony includes over two dozen cats already TNRed by Forgotten Cats, but whose daily care is managed by a caretaker Patty supports with food and supplies.
One of her most well-known rescues is Kidd, a stray found with a harness embedded so tightly it was slowly strangling him. Patty’s quick thinking and steady hands saved his life.

Why We’re Starting With $1,000
This is the first step in a staggered campaign—a long-term strategy rooted in persistence and realistic growth. We’re tackling the bigger picture of colony care, one manageable milestone at a time. Rather than applying temporary fixes, this campaign is designed to build a foundation for sustained impact and meaningful change over time.
To keep this campaign approachable for donors and manageable for Patty, we are starting with a modest $1,000 goal. These funds will help cover:

Phase 1 Priorities:
- Partial food supply for one month (wet & dry)
- Flea treatment and basic supplies
- Contributions toward replacing a broken drop trap
With donor support and visibility, future stretch goals will unlock:
- Additional vet care and dental cleanings
- Ongoing monthly food coverage
- Shelter and equipment upgrades
All vet care and TNVR procedures will be managed in partnership with Forgotten Cats, ensuring low-cost access and professional oversight.
What Your Donation Can Do
- $25 = 1 bag of dry food (feeds a colony 2 nights)
- $33 = 1 case of wet food (used daily)
- $100 = flea meds + supplies for one month
- $250 = average vet bill for an injured cat
- $300 = cost of a professional-grade drop trap
Your donation helps Patty feed, treat, and protect the most vulnerable cats in our communities—with oversight and support from one of the region’s most experienced rescue organizations.
